The Drifter Teaser 2

With her foot on the brake of her old buick, Lori shifted in her seat as the heavy rainfall continued to hit her windowshield. The wipers were doing a good job but when her brown eyes looked at the gas meter she knew she would have to stop soon. Her eyes glared at all of the signs and looked for the one with the nearest gas exit. "Two miles." She said with a smile, and then only five more hours and she would be in her new city, with her new life and new job. The minutes went by fast as she turned on her right blinker and exited the highway, her car slowly leaning around the turns. She had always been an extra safe driver, but today she had to be super safe. One misturn and her car could either slide off the road, or into oncoming traffic. She hated rain. With the gas station in her view she pulled into the gas pump. It had grown dark since she started her journey as the sky was nearly starless.
She took extra precautions before stepping out of her vehicle, growing up in the city she was well aware of the dangers she could face being out alone. But she shrugged it from her mind as she stared at the guy behind the bulletproof glass. His nose held up his glasses perfectly and she waited awhile before she interrupted the reading he was doing.
"I'm sorry, its so slow normally." He called out.
"That's okay, twenty on pump two." She called as she walked off. She couldnt shake the thought that she had eyes on her, sizing her up from a distance as her hips swayed back to her car. She removed the gas nuzzle and entered it into her tank.
The rain beating down on her forced her brown hair to become matted to her head. "Some gentleman." She thought aloud, hoping the young gas attendant would come out and help her, so she didnt have to get wet.
She looked around as she waited for the pump to fill up the rest of her car. It was pretty much deserted, only people who would stop in here would be tourist who needs a quick fillup before going to the next place. That's when she spotted him, walking across the street. His car was on the side of the road smoking.
"Hey." He called out to Lori who turned her attention back to her car. Wierd guy, I don't know, going to mind my business. She thought. She started to panic as the guy came closer and closer to her. She hastily opened her car door, she wasnt much for paranoia but stuck in the middle of nowhere with a guy coming towards you didnt look like a good situation.

Her hands twisted the key in the ignition and came to life. Lori you're a paranoid freak, the guys car obviously broke down. Her mind argued with her. She jumped out of her daze when he pounded on her windshield. Terror like she never felt before ran through her. She turned to see out the window as his soft face and warming blue eyes greeted her.
He tapped on the window and made the signal for her to roll it down.
"Hey." He repeated when she finally rolled down the window.
"Dont look so scared, I won't harm you." He smiled a warm smile at her. He was handsome. Lori thought. "I just need to use your cellphone, I dont have one and I need to call a towtruck."
"My names Ken." He said and he listened to the silence before she stated her name.
"Pretty name." He smiled at her again. She hesitantly agreed to let him use the phone and he stepped away from the car before making the call. She looked out of her back windshield as he paced about for two or three minutes before returning the phone to her, a sad look in his blue eyes.
"No answer huh." Lori interpretated what it meant. Need a lift hotstuff. Her devilish side began to ask before she looked over and knew it was a horrible idea.

The Drifter Teaser

Luka had set the gun back into his holster, there wasn't any movement from the other side of the door. He stared through the little holes in the wood where the bullets went through. You're dead now, creep. He thought as his hand turned the doorknob.
All of this could have been avoided, had he just turned himself in and released the young lady he had hostage. Luka didn't take kindly to pyschopaths, unless that pyscho was himself. He stepped back and kicked the door in, the wood giving way under his boot before he stared into the room. Blood was on the ground but there was a lack of assurance inside of Luka's mind. Blood, but no body. It meant he had at least nicked the guy, but where was he now. His hands reached to his side and removed his gun again. There wasn't any other trail of blood anywhere near, just the pool of it in the middle of the room. His eyes scanned the unfamiliar bedroom. Windows were closed, closet door was open and there was nowhere to hide in such a tiny place. Foolishly he looked above him, as if the assailant was stuck on the roof. There wasnt anyone hanging from the ceiling as if he was a spiderman. The matress had been laid flat on the floor so there wasn't any chance of the guy hiding underneath the bed......
